Product development created co-operation
For a number of years, AAK i Århus has experienced challenges in that their hoses in the filter department could not withstand the working pressure and the replacement time was too long when the production equipment had to be serviced. “We contacted Alfotech and told them about our challenges to hear if they had a special hose for vegetable oil in a hexane environment, that could meet our technical specifications and that was easier to replace. Previously, it took two men a whole day to replace the hoses, as the hoses had to be cut off with an angle grinder. This had to be made easier!” says Steen Fammé.
Alfotech took up the challenge. Through a co-operation with AAK, a new hose was developed, and the result was a specially manufactured hose with FDA-approval inside in accordance with 1935/2004. Another challenge was that the area was only accessible once a year, which meant that action had to be taken quickly and efficiently. “Since there was no hose that fit into their production, we had to think creatively to solve our customer's challenge and time was of the essence”, says Kim Jensen. After a few tests, Alfotech returned with a hose that could meet the requirements and even had a lifespan of more than one year.
Today, it is easy for one man to replace the hoses, which ensures the hose's durability and that the process takes place faster and more user-friendly. At the same time, safety has been significantly increased, as the use of cutting tools has been removed. The choice of the right hose is very important and optimizes production as well as ensuring that production stoppages are reduced to a minimum.
”We are very pleased with the co-operation with Alfotech. They have managed to produce a hose that fits our production with which we have not experienced any operational disruptions. The benefit is also that we have saved a lot of time on replacements and servicing”, says Steen Fammé from AAK.
