Guides & tutorials

Are you protecting your employees from hot hoses?

Hot hoses and pipes are a necessity in many process lines, but they can quickly become a hazard. The temperature on a surface can reach several hundred degrees, and a single accident can result in serious burns. This is where the Pyroflex, which is essentially a cover, plays an important role. It has been developed to reduce the risk of fire damage and create greater safety for employees in production.

In August 2024, we launched the Pyroflex. With this new video, we go one step further and show the two variants and how easy it is to install.

A solution for high temperatures

Pyroflex is a hose cover made of silicone-coated fibreglass that can withstand temperatures up to 260°C. It can also be transparent to short-term temperature fluctuations of up to 1100°C. In this way, Pyroflex provides effective protection for employees working close to hot hoses.

The need for thermal insulation is greatest in industries where hot media are a natural part of the process. In the food and pharmaceutical industries, Pyroflex is typically used on CIP and steam systems where cleaning or sterilisation requires high temperatures. The solution is also suitable for oil factories, chemical plants and petrochemical installations where employees work close to hot hoses with aggressive media.

Standard or Velcro – depending on your needs

pyroflex variants

When you choose Pyroflex, it's not just about protecting employees, but also about finding the solution that best suits your specific process. The standard version is ideal if you are facing a new installation. It is installed together with the hose during hose assembly and becomes an integral part of the line from day one. In this way, safety is incorporated into the installation from the outset and requires no additional adaptation afterwards.

The Velcro version, on the other hand, is ideal if a flexible solution is required. It can be opened, placed directly around an existing hose and closed tightly without changing the installation. This makes it ideal for retrofitting or moving between multiple process lines when operations change.

For example, a food company expanding with a new steam installation may choose the standard version. During installation, the Pyroflex fire protection is simply pulled onto the hoses before the line is put into operation. At the same company, there may also be an existing area with CIP lines where hoses are frequently connected and disconnected and where employees work close to hot media. Here, the Velcro version offers a transparent advantage. It can be opened, placed around the hoses and closed again – without having to dismantle the entire installation.

Make safety part of the solution

Pyroflex provides a simple and effective solution for protecting employees from hot process hoses. You can choose to purchase the fire protection separately, but we are also happy to fit the cover in advance if you order a process hose from us.
