Summer must-haves: TOP5 hoses for operational reliability and stable flow

Summer is just around the corner, production may be slowing down, and holidays are fast approaching. This can be an ideal time to use the quieter period to check your installations – especially the parts that are in direct contact with products and cleaning agents every day.  

Hoses are often overlooked, but small cracks, stiffness or reduced flexibility can lead to leaks, inefficient cleaning or, in the worst case, contamination and downtime. It therefore makes good sense to check them and organise replacements before everyday life gets back into high gear.  

Here is a list of the five hoses that have been most in demand in spring 2025. Perhaps one or more of them will suit your processes. 

1. Isar Water – the cleaning hose with high operational reliability 

Isar Water is a versatile and powerful cleaning hose designed to handle both hot water and greasy media. With its robust NBR rubber construction and synthetic fabric reinforcement, it is capable of delivering stable performance under demanding conditions – even when temperature and pressure rise.  

The hose is approved for contact with food and complies with both European and American standards. This makes it particularly suitable for use in food, beverage and dairy production, where hygiene, tightness and durability are essential.

2. Foam Cleaner – if foam cleaning is part of your routine 

Foam Cleaner is designed for low-pressure cleaning and foam application – and it makes it easy to keep your equipment hygienic without unnecessary wear on the hose. The inner PVC surface is smooth, ensuring optimal flow and easy cleaning, while the oil and grease-repellent outer surface provides extra protection – even against chemicals.  

The hose can withstand both alkaline and acidic cleaning agents and can operate at pressures of up to 80 bar. This makes it a safe choice in environments where frequent cleaning changes and consistent quality are required – such as in slaughterhouses, dairies and industrial kitchens.

3. Vulcano PU 09 H Ethers – when you want to see what's happening 

Vulcano PU 09 H Ethers is a transparent polyurethane hose, ideal for suction/vacuum applications. The hose is transparent, giving you direct visual control of the flow. The smooth inner surface makes cleaning easy and efficient, while the built-in spiral in PU-coated steel provides high flexibility without compromising durability. 

The hose is ideal for both dry substances and fatty foods in powder form – and it is equally suitable for cosmetic and pharmaceutical production, where documentation requirements are particularly high. The material is taste and odour free and free of BPA and latex, and the antistatic construction reduces the risk of electrical energy build-up from dust and particles. 

If you work in an environment where you want to be able to control the flow at a glance – while ensuring approved food contact – Vulcano PU 09 H Etere is the obvious choice of vacuum hose.  

4. Oily Food SPL – flexible and durable for fatty products  

When the medium is fatty, special demands are placed on the hose. Oily Food SPL has been developed specifically for transporting products such as oil, ice cream, dressings and sauces – and the choice of materials is adapted to the properties of these types of products. 

The inner NBR rubber surface is smooth, which reduces the risk of deposits and makes cleaning easier. The outside of the hose is covered with durable neoprene, which protects against both chemicals and mechanical impact. The built-in steel spiral and polyester reinforcement provide a good balance between flexibility and dimensional stability.  

With steam sterilisation possible at up to 130 °C, it is also suitable for environments with high hygiene requirements and routine SIP and CIP cleaning. 

5. Milkland Flex – flexible classic for dairy products and other foodstuffs 

Milkland Flex is a natural rubber hose known for its high flexibility and good durability in dairy and food production. The smooth, white inner surface is odourless and tasteless, and the hose is easy to clean.  

Thanks to the steel spiral and the canvas-covered outer surface, the hose retains its flexibility – even at low temperatures. At the same time, its construction makes it suitable for both static and dynamic use, e.g. for pumping or moving between tanks and tankers.  

Milkland Flex is approved according to both European and American food standards and can be sterilised at up to 120 °C. A safe choice for handling milk and other sensitive media.
