Material selection and solutions for butterfly valve gaskets
Butterfly valve gaskets play an essential role as sealing components in modern process plants. When correctly selected and installed, the seal ensures that butterfly valves close tightly – keeping product and cleaning media separate. This reduces the risk of leaks, spills and cross-contamination.
Choosing a gasket that matches the valve specifications and process conditions directly contributes to food safety, operational stability and consistent quality. We supply gaskets that comply with OEM specifications and fit precisely with the valve series in your plant. The range covers both single gaskets and complete service kits, so you can choose the solution that best suits your service plan.
Materials and operating characteristics

The choice of material has a significant impact on the performance and service life of the seal. In hygienic environments involving CIP cleaning and alkaline or acidic media, EPDM is typically the first choice. It can withstand temperatures of up to approx. 150 °C and is approved for food contact.
HNBR is suitable for processes involving grease, oil and water – but should not be used with CIP, as it cannot withstand strong cleaning chemicals. For high temperatures and aggressive media, we recommend FPM/viton, which can withstand up to 200 °C and has high chemical resistance. However, it should not be used with steam or lye.
When the seal is adapted to the temperature, medium and cleaning method from the outset, you get a reliable, documentable and durable solution.
Service kits and gasket kits

When seals are replaced as a set, maintenance becomes easier and more predictable. That is why we offer complete service kits and seal kits for selected valve series. With a single item number, you get all the necessary high-quality gaskets, so you are ready to install them right away. This simplifies planned service, reduces downtime and minimises the risk of incorrect installation or micro-leaks.
Especially in plants with short changeover windows, this solution is an effective way to ensure hygiene and documentation in the same work process. We also recommend that you inspect the valve seat, bushings and axle during servicing. Wear or scratches can affect even a new gasket and lead to repeated leaks. When both the gasket and mechanical components are in good condition, you achieve a stable and long-lasting seal.
Gasket for leading valve series
We support some of the most widely used butterfly valves in the industry, so you can consolidate both purchasing and documentation in one place.
For Pasilac, APV and SPX, we offer butterfly valve gaskets for the VPB and DELTA series, among others. Here you can choose between individual gaskets or complete seal kits, depending on how you plan your maintenance.
For Alfa Laval LKB, we supply service kits that match both ISO and DIN standards. The gaskets are available in several materials, including EPDM, HNBR and viton, allowing you to adapt the seal to the process and media.
For AWH butterfly valves, we can supply both individual gaskets and complete service kits. The solutions are available in ISO and DIN standards and can be combined with bushings so that the entire valve seal can be replaced collectively and efficiently.
Frequently asked questions

What determines the choice of material?
It depends on the medium, temperature and cleaning method. EPDM is chosen for acids, CIP and bases. HNBR is best for oil and grease without CIP, while FPM/viton is suitable for high temperatures and chemicals – but not for steam or lye.
Can I order complete sets for planned servicing?
Yes. Our service kits and seal kits combine all seals in one delivery. This saves time, reduces errors and ensures that the valve is quickly and safely returned to operation.
Do you supply gaskets in both ISO and DIN?
Yes, for example for the LKB series. Here you can choose sets for ISO, DIN and LKB-F, so that the plant complies with relevant standards – both international and national.
How do I ensure a correct fit?
You ensure the correct fit by matching the valve series, dimension and standard with the gasket profile and material. We work according to OEM specifications and therefore ensure that tolerances and sealing surfaces fit precisely – and that the valve functions as designed.
