Safe and efficient connection with Cejn eSafe quick couplings

Cejn eSafe quick couplings are a series of compressed air couplings that combine high performance with advanced safety technology. They have been developed with a focus on creating safe and efficient working environments where quick connection and disconnection are an integral part of everyday life. The key property of the eSafe series is automatic pressure equalisation upon disconnection, which prevents kickback and minimises the risk of pressure shocks. This makes them particularly suitable for production environments where both equipment and personnel must be protected against sudden loads.

The eSafe couplings are designed for one-hand operation, making them easy to use – even in confined installations. They comply with the ISO 4414 standard and are therefore a safe choice in companies where documentation and compliance with international standards is required.

The most popular models in the eSafe series

Cejn eSafe is available in several different series and material combinations, making them suitable for everything from general industrial environments to industries with high hygiene requirements. Among the most widely used models is the 320 series in galvanized steel, which delivers high flow capacity and robust performance for general industrial applications. For more demanding environments, such as in the food and pharmaceutical industries, the 326 series in stainless AISI 316 steel is often used, as it is both corrosion resistant and easy to clean.

All models are compact in design and optimised to deliver maximum performance in a minimum of space. This makes them ideal for modern, automated systems where both efficiency and space utilisation are key parameters.

Choose from five coupling types in the eSafe series

The eSafe series from Cejn is available in five coupling types to meet different needs in environments with high demands on safety, hygiene and operational reliability. Common to all of them is the compact design, integrated safety function and stainless steel AISI 316, which ensures durability and resistance to pressure, chemicals and temperature fluctuations. The series is ideal for demanding environments such as food processing, cleaning systems and offshore applications.

Coupling housing with internal BSP thread

This food-approved variant from the 326 series has an internal BSP thread and high flow capacity. The eSafe function equalises the pressure during disconnection and eliminates kickback. The coupling is ISO 4414 certified, compatible with CEJN Euro standard 7.4 mm, and available in ¼″, 3/8″ and ½″ versions. The operating temperature ranges from –20 °C to +100 °C, with working pressures up to 16 bar and burst pressures of 140 bar.

Coupling housing with external BSP thread

This variant has external BSP thread and the same technical specifications as the internal version: eSafe safety, ISO 4414 approval and dimensions in ¼″, 3/8″ and ½″. Temperature tolerance and pressure data match the internal model.

Coupling sleeve

The coupling sleeve is designed for high-pressure applications with internal BSP thread and is available in the same dimensions as the body coupling types: ¼″, 3/8″ and ½″. It handles working pressures up to 70 bar and burst pressures of 280 bar. The temperature range is –20 °C to +100 °C. The socket is certified according to ISO 4414 and several food and pharmaceutical standards (EC 1935/2004, EC 2023/2006, GRAS, ANSI, NSF).

Coupling nipple

This external BSP nipple has the same high technical standard as the socket and housing: eSafe safety, ISO 4414 and food approvals such as EC 1935/2004, EC 2023/2006, GRAS, ANSI and NSF. It is available in ¼″, 3/8″ and ½″, with working pressures up to 70 bar, burst pressure 280 bar and temperature tolerance from –20 °C to +100 °C.

Hose tail

The hose tail allows direct connection of hoses and is available in ¼″, 3/8″ and ½″ sizes. It is made of AISI 316, meets the requirements of ISO 4414 and food standards, and has a temperature tolerance from –20 °C to +100 °C. It can withstand working pressures of up to 70 bar and burst pressures of 280 bar, with the eSafe function as standard.

Application in demanding and hygiene-sensitive environments

man working in industry

Cejn eSafe quick couplings have been specially developed for industrial environments where operational reliability, hygiene and user-friendliness are key parameters. In the food industry, they are typically used to connect compressed air hoses in production and packaging lines where high flow capacity and easy cleaning are essential. Their compact construction also makes them ideal for areas with limited space.

In the pharmaceutical and biotech industries, the couplings support processes with high requirements for documentation, material selection and cleanliness. Thanks to the use of AISI 316 stainless steel and approvals such as EC 1935/2004 and NSF, they can be integrated into environments with CIP/SIP procedures and chemical influences without compromising safety.

The eSafe series also plays an important role in cleaning and maintenance sections, where it contributes to quick changeovers and safe disconnection without pressure surges. This makes them a versatile choice across industries where efficiency and work safety go hand in hand.

Frequently asked questions

woman wondering

What is the difference between a standard quick coupling and an eSafe coupling?

eSafe couplings have an integrated safety function that automatically equalises the pressure when disconnecting. This reduces the risk of kickback and makes them safer than traditional couplings.

Can eSafe quick couplings be used in the food industry?

Yes, especially stainless steel models such as the 326 series are suitable for food production thanks to their hygienic and corrosion-resistant properties.

What does it mean that eSafe complies with ISO 4414?

It means that the couplings have been tested and approved in accordance with international standards for compressed air safety, including requirements for pressure relief and accidental disconnection.

How do you maintain eSafe couplings correctly?

The couplings require minimal maintenance, but it is recommended to regularly check for wear and clean the connections for optimal function and tightness.

How do I ensure compatibility with my existing equipment?

By selecting the correct thread type and dimension and taking into account the working pressure and media type of the system. We are happy to provide technical advice if you are in any doubt.
