Hygienic and robust mechanical seals type MG

A mechanical seal, also known as a stuffing box, ensures that liquids and gases are kept in place in rotating equipment such as pumps, mixers and agitators. It forms a tight barrier between the rotating shaft and the pump house and prevents the medium from leaking into the environment. When you choose mechanical seal type MG, you get a solution that is designed to withstand the challenges you face in demanding production environments. The seals are built around a rubber bellows and a spring, which are encased in stainless steel. This protects the spring from the process medium and ensures an effective and stable seal. 

You can choose the seal ring in carbon or silicon carbide and the seat in either ceramic or silicon carbide. The rubber bellows are available in EPDM, NBR or Viton, depending on the media and temperatures involved in your process. The entire construction is designed to function smoothly during CIP cleaning and other intensive hygiene requirements. 

We offer three models in the MG series of mechanical seals, and we are happy to advise you on which one is best suited to your equipment and process. 

• MG 1 is a directional rubber bellows seal that provides stable sealing in a known direction of rotation. It can be used with both O-ring and block seats and offers good flexibility in the choice of materials.  
  
  
• MG 12 has the same design as MG 1 but is designed to fit DIN working lengths and DIN seat dimensions. It is also directional and offers the same combination options as MG 1. 
   
• MG 13 is non-directional and offers greater freedom of installation, regardless of the direction of shaft rotation. It is suitable for applications where the direction of rotation varies or where simple installation is a priority. Like the other models, MG 13 can be combined with both O-ring and block seats. 

All three models are based on the same basic construction and choice of materials, ensuring easy integration into existing equipment and consistent documentation across the series. 

When upgrading or replacing a mechanical seal type MG, it is rarely enough to simply replace the seal itself. To ensure an optimal and long-lasting solution, we recommend that you also consider the associated accessories. For example, it may be necessary to choose O-rings in alternative materials that match the chemical properties or temperature conditions of the process medium.
